Business Planning for the Rest of Us
November 27, 2008
Our pre-Turkey Day event - ‘Beer, Wine & Business Planning for 2009′ was great fun.
We ended up having 20+ attendees and I wasn’t booed off stage.
Our focus was Pascal Dennis’ book ‘Getting the Right Things Done‘. Amazon may have a few used copies but you can get them directly from the Lean Institute.
We reviewed the 4 step process Toyota uses in developing their annual plan as well as the importance of developing strong mental models for you and your company’s success.
If done right - the whole process gives you a business plan that fits ONE sheet of paper.
We recorded the event and I’ve embedded a copy of the video in this post.
Hopefully the info will be helpful and at the very least demonstrate the types of event and social / business networking opportunities we have at Office Space Coworking — right here in downtown Akron.

Beer, Wine and a little business planning for 2009…
November 23, 2008
This time of year is usually when we start thinking about NEXT year — that’s right - 2009.
So while I know I’m ready to eat and shop and eat some more — I also know the questions that’ll be in the back of my mind:
- How’s the economy going to affect my business?
- What changes do I want to see over the course of the year?
- How am I going to grow my business, reduce my debt, & be more profitable?
I’m betting these are the same questions that will nag you even as you pour the gravy over the mashed potatoes.
So here’s what I propose - this coming Wednesday Office Space Coworking is going to host a Pre-Turkey Day Wind Down.
Jelly with Kelly 2
November 2, 2008
Office Space Coworking is hosting a ‘Jelly’ session Friday, November 7th.
Jelly is casual coworking. We invite people to work from our office for the day. We provide chairs and workstations, wireless internet, and interesting people to talk to, collaborate with, and bounce ideas off of.
You bring a laptop (or whatever you need to get work done) and a friendly disposition.
There will be no charge to use our facilities this Friday and parking is free.
After 5, a group of us will be headed to 69 Taps to grab a beer before heading home to a much deserved weekend.
Feel free to pop in…although a quick response to this email as a ‘heads up’ would be appreciated.
Directions to Office Space Coworking are on our Web site. It can be a little tricky coming down South High Street, so you might want to print these up and bring them along.
Thanks and I hope to see you then!
Jelly with Kelly…

We decided to throw a last minute ‘Jelly’ together today…
Jelly is casual coworking. We invite people to work from our office for the day. We provide chairs and workstations, wireless internet, and interesting people to talk to, collaborate with, and bounce ideas off of.
You bring a laptop (or whatever you need to get work done) and a friendly disposition.
It was last minute but we had some good people show up — needless to say we’re having a boatload of fun while getting a lot of work done.
We’re going host another ‘Jelly with Kelly’ event Friday November 7th.
These are free events and where anyone can come in and use the facilities — members and non-members alike.
I’ll send a follow up email to everyone on our contact list a few days before.
Thanks to everyone who joined us!
