Bandito’s - mmmm that’s a good burrito
October 24, 2008
I’m a sucker for a good burrito as my waistband will attest.
One of my favorite places is Bandito’s on Main Street. It’s within a 3 min walk of our building. The bean burrito is my favorite it’s HUGE — and you get out of there for like $5.
Not to mention the staff is pretty cool as well. I’m starting to become a regular and they’re starting to anticipate my orders before I even sit down.
So long story short - good food, great people and another cool spot to step out to when working @ Office Space Coworking.
Jelly with Kelly…
October 24, 2008
We decided to throw a last minute ‘Jelly’ together today…
Jelly is casual coworking. We invite people to work from our office for the day. We provide chairs and workstations, wireless internet, and interesting people to talk to, collaborate with, and bounce ideas off of.
You bring a laptop (or whatever you need to get work done) and a friendly disposition.
It was last minute but we had some good people show upĀ — needless to say we’re having a boatload of fun while getting a lot of work done.
We’re going host another ‘Jelly with Kelly’ event Friday November 7th.
These are free events and where anyone can come in and use the facilitiesĀ — members and non-members alike.
I’ll send a follow up email to everyone on our contact list a few days before.
Thanks to everyone who joined us!
Private Workspace
October 19, 2008
So far - so good. We officially opened on October 1st and already have 6 members.
We’ve featured Jason Myers on the site last week and we’ll continue to highlight how others are using the space.
Something we’re excited about is — believe it or not — cubicles.
After working in the facility for about a month myself now and hearing the feedback of both new & potential members, we came to the conclusion that members still want some private space to work.
Whether you need to hop on the phone, or plug in your iPod and do some serious writing, ‘focus and privacy’ are key.
I’ve been going back and forth with Cubicles.com for about a month now. Good news is we’re very close to finalizing our order with them.
I’ve attached a screen shot of what one room (about 250 sq. feet of our 3200 sq. foot facility) will look like after we’ve installed the first set. We’re actually planning a phased roll-out and will bring more private work space online as we add new members.
So while we still have plenty of open space and meeting rooms for collaboration, we’ll be able to provide dedicated workstations for those needing a bit more privacy.
The cubicles - inline with our new pricing plan - will be able to be rented by the hour. Essentially, members buy a block of hours at the beginning of each month — be it 10, 20, 80 hours a month.
Each cubicle will have it’s own power source, connection to Ethernet and the option of having a VoIP telephone.
We’ve got more enhancements coming — and I’ll be sharing those shortly. So, stay tuned!
Member Spotlight - Jason Myers
October 12, 2008
Jason Myers was our first official member.
Jason is a successful businessman with NAA, a (fairly) newlywed, and wickedly talented at ‘Guitar Hero’ – let’s just say his talents in this area granted him some savings on his monthly membership fees after he soundly beat yours truly in a GH challenge.
He joined back in mid-September. Jason was raised in Stow but lives in Dallas, TX.
His insurance business has him making regular business trips into Akron. Spending most of his time in Dallas, Jason needed a flexible work space where he could meet clients and train agents.
Jason needed flexible space for collaboration so he could meet clients and train agents.
That’s where Office Space Coworking came in…his dad saw our article in the Beacon Journal and emailed it to him.
Jason needed a place in downtown Akron that would allow him to pop in - day or night - depending on the needs of his appointment schedule. He also needed meeting space to recruit and train agents for his insurance business.
