Towpath Trail

Towpath Trail - Great Views Right Downtown

I’ve worked in suburbia for so long, I forgot how much I loved working downtown.  The more I go exploring over lunch time or just when I need a walk to clear my head, the more I fall in love with the city.

Earlier this week, I ambled down by the ball park and discovered the Towpath Trail runs right next to it.

Heidi's Design Style Shines...

Heidi's Design Style Shines...

Our article was published last Saturday…

You can read it online at Ohio.com

One of my favorite quotes from the article:

Tony Troppe, the downtown developer who has been renovating the former Selle factory buildings into office space, said he sees his newest tenant as being among the ”progressive thinkers who are providing the infrastructure for even more growth and more entrepreneurial activity.”

One Great Launch Party…

One Great Launch Party

One Great Launch Party

We couldn’t have hoped for a better turn out.

I think we had a total of 50+ attendees join us Thursday for our Open House. It was a great experience and fun to meet everyone face to face. It appears the concept “coworking” is something the Akron region has been craving for some time now.

I’ll be sending a follow up message to all attendees — and contacting the winners of the door prizes directly.

For the record - Brandice Schnabel won the $50 gas card and Tracy Swarthout won the 3 month membership.

I’m also going to send out a follow up survey to learn more your impressions. We had great feedback from everyone. The space - and again we got lucky there - is awesome. But the real question is — did it meet everyone’s expectations? Will it match the way you WANT to work?

We’ve already signed up a few members out of the event — but we’re constantly going to be looking to improve the facility so it’s where you get your most productive (and fun) work done.

Ohhh and we have some pictures from the event — I have to admit we got swept up in the fun of the evening and only remembered to pick up the camera after things had settled down a bit — but it’s a good batch of photos and gives you a feel for the space with people chattin’ and such.

Office Space Reception Area

Well we’ve got furniture coming in by the (UPS) truckload.

We’ve only just started unpacking and assembling things. I doubt everything will be in place by the 18th, but there should be enough for everyone to get the idea.

Our goal is to create an environment that can change quickly to suit our needs.

For instance, the big hall will serve as a common area most of the time. We’ll arrange the parsons tables to create one long row of workstations.

We’re going to be featured in the Beacon Journal…

September 6, 2008

Last Friday I was interviewed by Paula Schleis, business reporter for the Beacon Journal.

She was a really cool lady and immediately grasped our concept. We’re having a photo session this Wednesday — I’ll try to keep my ugly mug out of the frame.

The article’s scheduled to be published Monday September 15th. As soon as it’s up, I’ll throw a link to it on our Web site.

As I said, Paula was wonderful.

We talked a bit about how & why the coworking movement started, why we think Akron’s a great place to launch Northeast Ohio’s first facility, and the importance of collaboration for small business success.

Tony Troppe also stopped by and was kind enough to share his enthusiasm for our project as well.
